Sebastijan Sarapa (born in Zagreb in 1998) graduated in clarinet from the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb, under Professor Davor Reba, and completed his Master’s degree in clarinet at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, in the class of Professor Tadej Kenig. In 2023, he enrolled in postgraduate studies in historical clarinet at the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia, studying with Professor Francesco Spendolini.
He received his primary and secondary music education at the Pavao Markovac Music School in Zagreb under Professor Petar Fabijanić, graduating with honors in 2015. He has won numerous prizes at Croatian and international competitions, including First Prize at the XXIII European Music Competition Città di Moncalieri (Italy, 2011) and the Anton Eberst Competition (Serbia, 2014), as well as Second Prize at the Woodwind & Brass Competition in Varaždin (2017) and the 9th Croatian Young Musicians Papandopulo Competition in Zagreb (2021). He also received the award for Best Performance of a Work by a Croatian Composer at the 18th Lions Grand Prix in Rijeka (2012). In 2014, he was a finalist in the Eurovision Young Musicians competition held in Zagreb.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with ensembles including the Rijeka Symphony Orchestra, the Mostar Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Youth Orchestra, and the early music ensemble Minstrel. He performs across Europe and founded the Chamber Music Ensemble Sklad in 2019, serving as its artistic director, with a focus on integrating early clarinet repertoire into contemporary artistic contexts.
