Welcome to the jungle, we have sound and plants! At this special concert, Martina Jembrišak, alongside top-level performance, also raises some provocative ecological questions by recording conversations between plants WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT!
Accordionist Martina Jembrišak, with an innovative approach, will create a dialogue with the plant world. The plants will ask questions through their frequencies, which the sound device will translate into sound through a speaker, and Martina will respond with her accordion. AMAZING! Sensors (electrodes) will be attached to the plants, registering their reactions and converting them into sound impulses, making the plants active participants in the performance. Although this is a technological process, the experience is built as a poetic and metaphorical exchange – a space in which nature and humans create sound together.
The concert also opens an ecological dimension: it reminds us of the sensitivity of nature, the interconnectedness of living systems, and the need for more attentive listening to the world around us. “Welcome to the Jungle” is not just a concert, but also an invitation to a different perception – slower, more conscious, and more open. In other words, as always, SEZ in this concert expands the understanding of art, which it also sees as a means of activism. Of course, everyone who has ever been to SEZ concerts already knows this. For everyone else: NOW YOU KNOW!
In parallel with the musical part, academic painter Petra Šabić creates a visual record of the concert during the live performance. Inspired by the movement of the performer and the dynamics of sound, her works are created in real time, transforming transient musical energy into a lasting visual imprint.
The concert is conceived as an interdisciplinary space of encounter between music, nature, and visual art, in which the performance continuously changes and develops before the audience, without applause between compositions. Under the leadership of artistic director Helena Skljarov, SEZ continues to explore the concert as a form that erases boundaries – between the arts, but also between the audience and the performance.
At the end of the concert, the audience is invited to join the stage and view the paintings created during the performance.
